Bryan's 46th Birthday!!!

Hello everyone!
Dad's birthday today and he was in great spirits. I arrived at the hospital with Joey this morning and Mum was helping Dad with his shower. Soon after they returned Dad was in his new chair and out in the sun. Such a beautiful day today, Dad didn't even need a jumper! Uncle Ed, Nan and Pop and Erin arrived not long after. We had a nice little picnic out in the sun! Aunty Ros and David came and Ann, Craig, Ellen and John also. We also talked to Uncle Jeff and Aunty Chris via Skype and received many phone calls. Pizza, chips, lollies and carrot cake (Dad's favourite!) I have put a few pics on tonight so that everyone can see how well Dad is doing. His voice is pretty much healed and he looks healthy but still having a little trouble with his bowels.
Just a short post tonight, very enjoyable day had by all. Here are the pics...
Dad eating a pancake that Aunty Kathy made, Ben gave up and Uncle Ed bought all the way from Toowoomba.

The punk party arriving - Craig, John behind Ellen and Ann (Mum's brother Patrick had a dress up 50th birthday party last night and since Dad couldn't go they bought the party to him!)

Dad and us girls :)

Hope everyone is well, goodnight, love to all

Bec xoxo

  1. Hi Bryan,

Happy Birthday, hope you had a great day with family and friends.

By the way give yourself some credit you're only 92% of my age not 98.5% as we thought earlier today.

I just saw Gerrard Gosens (Google his name) on "Dancing with the Stars"(yes that's what happens when you get older), dancing to the Cha Cha with a beautiful 24 year old blond bombshell, who rocks on the dance floor.

You may not watch the show or know of Gerrard?? He is a professional paralympian and adventurer.

He has climbed beyond base camp 3 (above 7000 feet) on Mt Everest, swum with sharks and co-piloted a motor glider around QLD. - Not bad for someone who is congenitally blind?
He plans to return to Mt Everest to become the first congenitally blind person to reach the summit.

In the Cha Cha dance, Gerrard along with his partner put on a dazzling display while showing a unique ability to have a really good time on National television. Gerrard actually threw Jessica over his shoulders and around his neck in an astonishing grand finale - truly amazing and inspirational. (How does he know what position of the spin/throw his partner is in, where the body is placed and when to let go or catch her???)

Gerrard lives by the philosophy "Success is a journey, not a destination", but jokes he has hit many signposts while training for his chosen sport of long distance running.

Gerrard has run the 1700 kilometres from Cairns to Brisbane 5 times to raise money for charity.

I believe you too will hit many "sign posts" on your journey of rehabilitation. However on this necessary journey you will also have the capability to have a "good time" during the journey.

Yep - there will be some bloody hard times depending on how square you hit the "sign posts". Either way you have the strength and support to get around the "sign posts" and continue on your journey to recovery.

We are all with you on this journey.

Love and best wishes to you and your family, Warren, Trish, Tim and Gabby Suley

  3. Hi Uncle Bryan,
Happy Birthday! Looks like you had a great day and we missed out. Clinton, Maliyan and I are sorry we couldn't make it to celebrate with you. We had unexpected visitors from Sydney show up and stay with us. Anyway, our thoughts were with you and the family and we'll be up soon to say hi and spend some time with you. Lots of love from Lozen, Clint and the bubs.

  4. Hey Flyan.... We are all on a journey of life; only you took a wrong turn, and ended up on a road less travelled. It is bumpy, lots of twists & turns and ups & downs. You know only too well that a trip on that kind of road is slower and harder. Quite often, we need to travel a bumpy road, so we can reach & appreciate the highway and it might be a long road, but it is not a dead end; you will eventually get past it. Julie, Bec & Erin are passengers with you every inch of the way to keep you going and make sure you drive safely; all your friends & extended family are the guard rails, to keep you on track and stop you from going over the edge or into a tree. So be patient, and take the journey as slowly as you need to, so you don't get lost again and to make sure you reach the right destination, and in time, you will see the signs telling you that the highway is just ahead, and when you get there?? YEEHAAAH!!!

Birthday's are birthdays no matter where you are or what you are doing - I hope you enjoyed yours.

    Stack xx

(Warren beat me to it with the journey story!!)
