  2. Hey Flyan,

Bummer, It looks like, at this particular moment in time, you will only be able to Drive a converted car, Skoot about in your electric chair, Fly remote controlled planes and race remote controlled cars and helicopters. Program CNC machines to make cool parts, Edit movie footage and learn about sound editing, Design a better bloody respirator tube, Buy and sell motorcycle stuff on Ebay, Hang out and help your mates with ideas and concepts, Cruise around with Dire Straits blaring, Work out in the gym, Invent some kind of Quad bike that you can take on bush tracks. Keep up the great work you have done with your kids, Get into photoshop Auto CAD and the other 6000 or so cool software programs out there, Help trick out that Smart car with Ed and I if you want one. Try out for for covering TV and radio broadcast's of motor sports events. Build some of those cool rocket kits, See the whole list of the worlds top 100 movies, Go camping and fishing, Get that communication concept you had into action, Keep on enjoying all of the visual and sensational delights the natural world has to offer us, and a whole bunch of other stuff....

But i guess you will be busy in recovery for a while and then I have heard that they want you back at work...?
Maybe it will be better to just limit yourself to a few things, like most of the people on this planet do....

Great to see your progress, I know its just the start.

    Grant.

  7. Keep working out those muscles Bryan. We are so very jealous of your meals. mmmmmmmm, they look yummy!!! Brenden reminded me that some of his patients have been peg fed for years - so you my friend are truly amazing!!!! Enjoy the fact that you are eating meals from a spoon!! " Little by little." Would you like another joke of the day? What's that? Of course you do. Here goes:A couple, desperate to conceive a child, went to their priest and asked him to pray for them. "I'm going on a sabbatical to Rome," he replied, "and while I'm there, I'll light a candle for you."
When the priest returned three years later, he went to the couple's house and found the wife pregnant, busily attending to two sets of twins. Elated, the priest asked her where her husband was so that he could congratulate him.
"He's gone to Rome, to blow that candle out" came the harried reply. (I think this might be a true story not a joke!!!)
    Love to all, Deb x x x x

  8. Hi
We've just returned from 4 weeks overseas where we received the news of Bryan's injury. Caitlin then got us the URL for the Weblog and we've kept up to date through that whenever we could get a web connection.
Well done Rebecca, it has been a brilliant way of keeping up to date with Bryan's progress. We have been praying for you all. It has been inspiring to see your strength of character and personal resolve.
We're now back in Oz and hope to join the visiting roster soon.
Hang in there, love and best wishes to you all.
Allan, Donna, Mandy, Caitlin & Joshua

  9. Hi Bryan,
It is good to see you in action and looking so well. We were very surprised to see that the surgery went through your throat (who'd of thunk that?). Geoff and I are looking forward to coming to visit you but we are surrounded by people with "flu-like symptoms" at the moment...so will wait till that passes. We, too, read the blog everyday and feel very privileged that you and your wonderful family keep us up to date with your amazing progress. Let's hope it continues at the same incredible rate.
See you when the "oinking" stops,
    Geoff and Marea

  10. Gday Bryan, Dan Stenzel here. not sure if you remember me but i used to work with u at garden city joinery about 15 years ago. i found out about your situation thru my brother, Wayne who works at condimine drilling.
a bit over 14 years ago i broke my neck and ended up a c5/6 quad (not sure if u were at the joinery then)my injuries/feeling is very similar to yours.
well what can i say mate, what a bugger. it is a very hard thing to deal with and will take time to adjust but always keep your chin up. if you dont have patience you will soon learn! your video brought back memories for me.
i spent 10.5 weeks in traction (vertibrae to smashed to operate) and approx 10 months total in the spinal unit. it looks like you have good support from your family and friends which is important.
there is still life after SCI, u learn to adjust and learn new ways to do things and to modify and make things to suit. i manage/do some farm work, can weld, drive a john deere gator around the farm and lots of other things, always doing something!
i will keep an eye on your progress thru this blog, if u want a yarn u can contact me on my email and i'll give u my ph number cruzin@mail.com
well good luck, stay positive cause things will improve.
    Dan
