Almost Home

Hi all,

I'm starting to feel excited that it's only 2 weeks until I have my first trip back to Toowoomba since the 19th of July. It's the longest time, in my 46 years, I've ever spent away from home. I'm wondering how things will have changed; and I look forward to being close to all my family and friends once again.

Although, I do need to return to Brisbane to attend the transitional house where Julie and I can trial living away from the hospital semi supported; this will take us up to Christmas where I hope to return to my own home for good!

I had my first experience in the hydrotherapy pool this week. I enjoyed floating around, but scared myself when not being able to correct myself due to my nonexistent hand function, as I was attempting to right myself when face down. Future water experiences I’m sure will be accompanied by a fixed floaty to keep my head up, as for one day I hope to paddle my surf ski with the girls.

I look forward to seeing everyone, lots of love.

  1. G'day Bryan,
Its fantastic to hear all is moving in a positive direction. Congratulations on your wedding aniversary, I couldnt believe the problems you had in the morning, and you still went out to town.
Well done in the hydrotherapy pool, I bet it would have been daunting just to get in. A well placed floatie or two and before you know it you'll be swimming laps.
As for news from Tassie, The trip back from QLD was great but I nearly got blown off the R1 near Horsham by storms coming through. I didnt see Kevin Magee but I got hit by the Horsham Hurricane.
I completed the Cycle leg of the Tullah Challenge (an adventure triathlon, 4.5km paddle, 30km bicycle road race, 7.5km cross country run) I managed to shave a tight 33 minutes of my pre race run and I beat a roadie on my mountain bike - much to their dissapointment. Next year I hope to do the lot solo.
Anyway I better get back to work, Congratulations again on your amazing progress keep up the good work.
